Women & Next-Gen

Empowering leaders of today and tomorrow

  • Networks, peer groups & growth
  • Certification support for women- and disadvantaged-owned businesses
Advocacy

Advocacy and policy

As a 501(c)(6) business league, we represent members' commercial interests directly with policymakers — convening rather than campaigning, in both countries.

  • Representing SME interests with policymakers
  • Convening with members of Congress, governors and Union & state ministers in India
  • Partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce MBDA
  • Membership of the International Council for Small Business
  • Building a voice for SMEs at the highest levels
State-to-State Partnerships

State-to-state partnerships

Washington and New Delhi write the framework. Chennai and Richmond write the purchase orders. U.S. states compete hard for foreign investment; Indian states run investment promotion bureaus with dedicated foreign desks. We are the connection between them and companies our members' size.

Our formal agreements

Government of Tamil Nadu

Memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance & Export Promotion Bureau, signed September 2019 — a dedicated USA Desk, CEO forums, business meetings and investment promotion roadshows.

Partnerships & MoUs

Our partnerships

Formal agreements with governments, federal agencies, export councils, industry federations and universities across the United States and India. These are what turn an introduction into an institution.

A memorandum of understanding is not a press release. Each of these agreements exists because it gives our members something specific: a desk in a state government, a place on a delegation, a training programme, or a route into a federal buying agency.

Government partners

Government of Tamil Nadu — Industrial Guidance & Export Promotion Bureau

Signed September 2019. The Guidance Bureau supports Council member companies investing in Tamil Nadu, including through a dedicated USA Desk, and coordinates access to Government of Tamil Nadu departments. Both parties run CEO forums, business meetings, investment promotion roadshows and dialogue sessions in Tamil Nadu and the United States, and cooperate on cultural and academic exchange.

Government of Karnataka

Memorandum of understanding signed with the Chief Minister.

Federal partners

U.S. Department of Commerce — Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA)

MBDA is the only federal agency dedicated exclusively to the growth and global competitiveness of minority-owned businesses. Our partnership underpins the Council's government contracting and procurement programme, and gives members a direct line into the federal support ecosystem built for firms like theirs.

AmeriCorps and the Points of Light Foundation

The Council is an approved certifying organisation for the President's Volunteer Service Award.
